Lecy shares the role of Becky (seasons 1-6, 8), the oldest of the three Conner children. "Roseanne" marked not only her television debut but also her first professional acting job. Lecy (a family nickname for Alicia) had her life turned completely upside down by the comedy series, "Roseanne." Up until that point, she had grown up in a suburban household in Chicago, where she had always lived on the same block. Her father, Steve, is a statistician for the Environmental Protection Agency, and her mother, Linda, is an English teacher at a neighborhood high school.
When she was about eight years old, Lecy expressed an interest in attending an acting
workshop at the nearby Piven Theatre, where she subsequently studied for five years. A
teacher recommended that she audition for the role of Becky on "Roseanne," and suddenly
Lecy found herself on a plane headed for Los Angeles.
Two-time Emmy Award nominee Sara Gilbert belongs to the third generation of a well-established
show business family. Her maternal grandfather, Harry Crane, created and wrote
the legendary "The Honeymooners." Sara's maternal grandmother, Julia Crane, was a dancer
and a former Miss Brooklyn. Sara's mother, Barbara Gilbert, is a talent manager and producer,
and her siblings Melissa ("Little House On The Prairie") and Jonathan are well known actors.
"Roseanne" was the first series in which Sara starred as a cast regular. She
demonstrated her versatility when she starred opposite Louis Gossett, Jr. in the cable movie,
"Sudie and Simpson," which dealt openly with the subjects of child molestation and racism.
Both the production and Sara's performance earned critical praise. Other projects were
starring roles in the features "Poison Ivy" and "Deadbeat." She also appeared in the world
premiere of the Gary Stewart play "Downwinder Dance."
In 1998 Sara graduated from Yale.
He may have been the youngest star of the hit comedy series, "Roseanne," but the young Michael Fishman was in the center of the action. Even during free time, he could be found on the stage with cast and crew members learning the technical side of producing and directing. Michael also has developed a keen interest in sports and chess from hanging out with crew members on breaks and at meal times. He was a newcomer to acting and television when he started the series, but he still enjoys his show business life.
The young actor confesses that he really likes acting. He has been interviewed by Jay
Leno on "The Tonight Show," by Regis Philbin on "Live With Regis and Kathie Lee," and by
Rick Dees on "Into the Night." He has made a commercial, modeled school clothes for the
Ladies Home Journal, and appeared at the opening of Splash Mountain at Disneyland.
