GETTING
ON BASE Now it's game time, and here's where it can get tricky.
For each batter, you will mark their progress around the bases by
tracing the base path with your pencil. To tell exactly how the
player got on base, scorekeepers use a kind of shorthand. The abbreviation
for the play is put before the base the player reached on his at
bat. For example, if Jones hits a triple, the appropriate abbreviation
(3B; see table below) is put on the base path
between second and third base. 
If a player reaches first on walks, place
the proper symbol (W; see table below) on the
first base path, and so on. Click here
