 He was born Francis Wuppermann but he was known to the world as the wonderful Wizard of Oz, the delightfully quirky "man behind the curtain" who bestowed the gifts of heart, courage and wisdom to Dorothy's friends. Morgan was born June 1, 1890 in New York City. His older brother was screen star Ralph Morgan. Their family is the U.S. distributor of the universally-known condiment "Angostura Aromatic Bitters." |
