In TBS Superstation's original thriller THE TIMESHIFTERS, Theresa Saldana plays Cortez, a futuristic agent assigned to prevent a tabloid journalist from altering time.
Saldana began her career as a teenager in New York City, studying with famed acting coach Stanford Meisner and appearing onstage in a variety of musicals, comedies and dramas. Television and film work soon followed, including her film debut in "Nunzio" and a starring role in Robert Zemeckis' "I Wanna Hold Your Hand." Her other feature credits include "Raging Bull," opposite Robert DeNiro and Joe Pesci; "Defiance," co-starring Danny Aiello; Brian De Palma's "Home Movies;" and "The Evil That Men Do," co-starring Charles Bronson.
In 1982, Saldana survived a near-fatal stabbing by a deranged fan, an incident that led her to become a leading advocate for victim's rights. She founded the group Victims for Victims, wrote the book "Beyond Survival" and starred as herself in the telefilm "Victims for Victims: The Theresa Saldana Story." Her work on behalf of victims earned her a Presidential commendation.
While starring in Los Angeles' longest-running play "Tamara," Saldana was cast in two television series: "The Commish" for ABC and "Confessions of Crime" for Lifetime. She went on to earn a Golden Globe nomination for her work on "The Commish."
Saldana's extensive telefilm credits include "Shameful Secrets" and "She Woke Up Pregnant." She also played a recurring role on the comedy series "Nothing Sacred" and the soap opera "All My Children."
Saldana has recently completed production on two feature films, "Illusion Infinity," co-starring Dee Wallace, and "Carlo's Wake," with Martin Landau and Rita Moreno. She is currently hard at work on "Latino Tales," a collection of short stories.
