Chad & Carey Hayes
Identical twin brothers Chad and Carey Hayes have been writers since they were 16. While attending high school in Lake Tahoe, Calif., they wrote their first screenplay and turned to their neighbor, Hoyt Axton, to help them get it made. Axton introduced them to his agent, Charles Stern, who instead of helping them market their screenplay, got them work as television actors. After getting numerous acting parts, the pair found the financial freedom to pursue their writing dream.
The Hayes' first big break came when they wrote a Lawrence Mark picture called LOOKERS, which led to a three-picture deal. Discouraged by the long development process in the studio system, however, they decided to turn their attention to television movies. Since 1995, they have written 11 telefilms, including TBS Superstation's FIRST DAUGHTER. They have also written the teleplays WILD HORSES for Disney and SHUTTERSPEED for TNT, as well as a miniseries for German television, all set to shoot this year.
The Hayes have also written five television pilots, worked on three series and currently have an overall deal with Alliance Atlantis, developing pilots and telefilms, and serving as supervising producers on the new syndicated series THE BEASTMASTER, currently shooting in Australia.
