What is HyperTV?
HyperTV is a unique way of combining the excitement of television
with the interactivity of the Internet. By using our free, downloadable
software, you can automatically receive exclusive web content on
your computer that complements the program you're watching on TV.

Here to see the demonstration.

What do I need
to use HyperTV?
PC
You need a Pentium II computer with at least 64 MB of RAM connected
to the Internet with at least a 28.8 modem. You'll also need Netscape
4.5 or better or Internet Explorer 4.0 or better. To receive some
of the animations and interactions in HyperTV programs, you will
also need to install the free Flash 4.0 plug-in from Macromedia.
If you are unsure if you have Flash 4.0, when you register, we will
check for you.
Mac
You need a G3 computer with at least 64 MB of RAM connected to the
Internet with at least a 28.8 modem. You'll also need Netscape 4.5
or better (Internet Explorer capability coming soon). To receive
some of the animations and interactions in HyperTV programs, you
will also need to install the free Flash 4.0 plug-in from Macromedia.
If you are unsure if you have Flash 4.0, when you register, we will
check for you. You may want to increase memory allocated to browser.
Note: Some Mac users utilizing
Netscape may accidentally install HyperTV on Internet Explorer because
it has been set as their default browser. To reset the default browser
to Netscape, click on the Apple menu and scroll down to "Control
Panels." Select "Internet," which will launch a pop-up
window. Click on the "Web" tab. Then click on the "Default
Web Browser" menu and select "Netscape Communicator."
Save your changes before closing the window.

How do I get started?
Download the FREE HyperTV plug in. Close your browser and install
the downloaded software. Then return to hypertv.com and fill out
our registration form. Once you hit submit, you can choose to participate
in a Hypercast, or come back to participate in other Hypercasts.
You can use your login name and password for any programming experience
enhanced with HyperTV.

Do
I need to 'get a skin'?
A skin controls the look of
the application. If you have downloaded the HyperTV plugin for any
other event, prior to July 24th, 2000, you will need to download
the new iWatch skin. The skin can be downloaded by clicking on the
"Shows" button on the top of the page and then the "Get Skin" button.
(top)
When do I register?
You must register AFTER, not before you download the plug-in and you must maintain your connection during installation even after you close your browser.

Can I visit different
Web sites while using HyperTV?
HyperTV isn't about random searching - it's about the video providing
a context for the specific web content you will see. However, you
can click on links in the HyperTV content and launch other pages.
Depending on the content, some pages may appear within the HyperTV
environment, other pages may be launched in a new browser
frame. Remember: If you click the forward button on your browser
you will leave the HyperTV experience. You'll have to re-login to
get back in.

I've registered
and have my Login Name and Password. Why can't I log in?
Your Login Name and Password are case sensitive. When you type them
in, make sure your letters that are supposed to be capitalized are
capitalized.
(top)
Why am I not receiving
any new HyperTV content?
Check to see if your "Autobrowse" button is highlighted.
If it is highlighted, click on it and you will automatically receive
new web content from then on. If "Autobrowse" is not highlighted,
you may have lost your connection. Try sending out a chat message.
If the chat message is not echoed back on your screen, close your
browser, reload it, and login again. If the chat message is echoed
back on your screen, there probably haven't been any recent pushes
of web content.

Can I see HyperTV
if I'm behind a firewall?
That depends on how your firewall is configured. If every time you
try to log in, you receive a message back that says "Connection
Refused" then your firewall is definitely interfering.
(top)
What do I do if
I get a "Connection Refused" and I'm not behind a firewall?
Your user ID may not be flushed from the system. Close your browser,
wait a few seconds, and log in again.

I
got kicked out of the event and lost all of my points. What do I
do?
If you are logged out during the event, your score, map and code
are zeroed out on your display. However, the full points will be
captured by ACTV's system and added to your total score.
